Tattoos can bring flowers, religious symbols, the name of the loved one, designs with special meanings. They can be colored or just dotted in black; they can be discreet, even minimalist, but also exaggerated: the options are many and increasingly popular.
Expression of individuality and aesthetic manifestation, since the body becomes the support of the art or concept that one wants to express, the tattoo becomes a problem when the person changes his mind about it. It is in these moments that the resources of Cosmiatrics come in, usually long treatments to erase now unwanted tattoos.
Prior to tattooing, care should be taken to use disposable materials and sanitized and sterilized equipment to avoid risks of contamination from diseases such as hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis.
Colored pigments made from metal salts that are introduced into the skin with tiny needles can also cause acute inflammatory reactions, eczema and infections, becoming sun-sensitive, with redness, blisters and swelling lasting up to three weeks.
It is recommended to wait up to two years to tattoo on surgical scars. Tattoos on spots and signs make it difficult to diagnose skin cancer, and should also be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The tattoo removal is done with laser that has well defined light and thus only reaches the layer of skin that contains the pigment. The device acts by firing a beam of light of specific wavelength that, upon reaching the skin, is absorbed by both black and colored pigments. Before starting the procedure the skin is anesthetized to minimize heat discomfort. Absorption of light energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment, which is absorbed by the body’s immune system.
Post-treatment: Avoid exposure to sunlight.
Protocol: Between 4 and 12 sessions, monthly. It will depend on the type of pigment, depth and intensity of the paint.
Result: Gradual, tattoo strokes get thinner and clearer

Starwalker is a picosecond and nanosecond laser that safely removes all pigment tones from the skin. It is the newest treatment for removing tattoos, blemishes, spots, dark circles and melasma. The energy waves allow a photoacoustic effect of greater intensity, breaking the skin pigments into smaller particles, increasing efficiency, speed and safety.
Post-treatment: For dark spots and melasmas, no post-treatment required. For some tattoos, a small bandage is necessary, as well as anesthetic ointment.
Protocol: The number of sessions depends on the pigmentation of the discolored areas or tattoo. For a melasma, it’s necessary to have between 4 – 6 sessions.
Result: Immediate, with evolution after the end of treatment.
